1. Core Rail

CAD and render by Oscar

A lot of people dream of being taller, but there are some who live a life where being tall becomes an issue. Requiring an electric wheelchair on top of that becomes a huge problem, as standardisation within the market leaves them starved for alternatives, alternatives which we have created.

Comfort for the uncomfortable

The "core" rail

Our design is named “Core Rail” for a reason. Throughout the wheelchair you will find an aluminum profile which connects everything together, structural and aesthetic parts alike. We chose this as our foundation since it allows for almost any part on the wheelchair to be adjusted lengthwise, making comfort easy to obtain no matter your measurements.

Initial idea

The concept started of with a simplified version of the armrest. One which put the idea of our adjustment possibilities to the test. While not being visually pleasing, it gave us quick answers regarding it’s viability.

A plethora of positions

Through both rotational and directional adjustment possibilities, the armrest and joystick can be positioned in many ways. And while providing flexibility for normal usage, the design also allows for interesting and unusual positions, such as seen in the bottom right picture.

Locking mechanism

For locking the armrest into place I decided to explore a horisontal to vertical power transfer module. Fitting into the lower part of the rail, it allows for quick adjustments on the go with the push of a button.

Proof of concept

To better be able to communicate our vision, this physical showcase was put together. Here you can test how the components assemble and also feel how they interact with eachother.

Accessories

On the outer side of the armrest there is a slot where different attachments and accessories can be positioned. Here we showcase a cup holder, but anything could be added, extra bags, a small foldable eating surface, headlights, etc.

Personalized style

We decided to expermient with some of the pieces on the armrest to provide different alternatives in style, ranging from sleak and fancy to soft and cuddly.

Storing and transporting

Making the wheelchair foldable is very important for allowing easy transportation and storage when not in use. Here we explore some concepts in that regard and also make a small test model to see if our theorised solution is realistic. Finally a 3D print was made to make sure it worked in the finished design aswell.

Home on wheels

What started of as a project to help those not fitting in to our standardised socity, eventually ended up in a concept offering alternatives in style, comfort and accessories. Features that we intend for to make the wheelchair feel like home, adapted to the needs of the user.

2. Kodo

Food often lasts longer than the written expiration date, but it’s not always easy to tell when it’s no longer good to eat. This device is designed to reach into different bags and containers to analyze the situation.

"It's past expiration date, but still safe to eat, right?"

Initial process

Different shapes and features for the device was explored to make sure ease of use during operation, both when it comes to handling but also to see the results.

Ergonomics and finish

The body took on a different shape after feeling out the orginal design in my hand. An ergonomic underbelly was added for proper hand support. Here I also experimented with how to make a look-a-like brushed steel surface.

In use

When using the device in combination with a plastic bag, you simply hold the opening of the bag around the nozzle, and proceed to click the black button. It then pulls the air from inside the bag past a sensor, which gets triggered if it detects mould particles passing by.

Charging

The device has easy access to USB-C charging through a port on the bottom, and the placement of the port minimizes how much dust it collects while not in use.

Protected exhaust

With an exhaust that is both covered and out of harms way during use, the risk of something, or someone… accidentally touching the moving components on the inside is reduced.

Storage

For storing the device there are 2 magnets on the bottom, one on either end, which means you can attach it to most metallic surfaces, or just throw it in a drawer.

3. Nam-Nam

Participating in activities located in the kitchen is not always a childs favourite. It doesn’t really have that “excitement”, which they often look for. To bring some of that excitement into the kitchen is the purpose of this peeler.

Basic shape

The outer shell of the peeler is designed with the chaotic kid in mind, giving a lot of safety and protection from the blade, which is placed at the bottom. The added shape on top of the peeler allows for easier grip and gives an interesting visual.

Production and assembly

The “Nam-Nam” peeler is made to be both easily manufactured and put together. With minimal individual pieces and guiding rails for alignment, the risk of mistakes in production is reduced.

Colorful collection

The basic shape of the peeler allows it to take on the apperance of a multitude of fruits and vegtables by changing the color scheme. Examples appart from the ones shown here could be eggplants, persimmons and limes.

4. Spare time

Consider this section as a kind of gallery, a compliation of some of my favourite spare time projects I have completed. There won’t be a lot of explanations here, but you will get a visual insight into my personality and who I am.

"Ancient bow"

This is a 1:1 replica of a bow from the game “Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild”.

While not my own design, this will guaranteed stand to be one of my most memorable projects ever. It is the starting point of my creative journey. With no more then a dremel, a jigsaw, sandpaper and some paint, what was meant to be a simple gift turned into a passion project requiring countless hours.

Moderträdet

A table lamp called “Moderträdet”, which in Swedish means “The Mother Tree”.

The semi-transparent and see-trough panels are interchangeable, which means you can switch them out whenever you feel like it. This way you can change and set the mood for different occasions, without needing multiple lamps.

Solur

A wallclock called “Solur”, which in Swedish means “Sundial”.

The tips of the beams shooting out from the center are perfectly aligned with the 5 minute interval, making it both easily readable and aesthetically pleasing.

Arctic horns

What started of as a clothing/key hanger, inspired by reindeer horns, was later reinvented and turned into a display shelf.

This is the end of the line
